Staff Physician (Ambulatory Care Service)

The clinic services provide scheduled appointments for new and returning primary care for large numbers of veterans seen in and followed within the Health Care System for a wide variety of common medical and psychiatric problems. Functions/Scope Staff physician provides comprehensive primary care to a primary care panel of eligible veterans. A wide variety of medical conditions are treated, including but not limited to:
Hypertension, diabetes, hyperlipidemia, coronary artery disease, neurological disorders, endocrine disorders, dermatological conditions, follow up for inpatient as well as outpatient surgical procedures, urologic conditions, eye evaluations, dental evaluation and care, anticoagulation monitoring, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, degenerative arthritis, depression, and geriatric problems, Assess the patient to determine the nature of the disease process:
Provide appropriate treatment. Provide instruction and/or education concerning treatment/diagnosis/medications. Contact other medical personnel for necessary consultation. Provide referral to Specialty Clinics as appropriate. Admit to the Medical Center patients who require acute inpatient care. Provide for follow up as necessary. Emphasize Preventive and health screening for veteran patients. Conduct performance measure clinics to support and improve the health of diabetic patients, with particular attention to hypertension, lipid management, foot examinations and medical management of the disease with improved glucose control. Judicious use of laboratory and x-ray services, as well as appropriate referral and consultation is obtained. Participation in the teaching programs of the University of Nevada, School of Medicine. Provide educational opportunities for students of medicine, nursing, pharmacy, dietary services, and others. Residents in training in medicine, surgery, psychiatry and family practice also receive instruction from Ambulatory Care Service staff clinicians. Provide training and/or direction as applicable to supporting employees (e.g. RNs, LPNs, technicians, administrative support staff) assigned to the unit during the performance of duties. Such direction and interaction will adhere to government and professional clinical standards and accepted clinical protocol. OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES Support of the medical center Employee Health Services. Interpersonal relationships:
works effectively with patients, families, co-workers and other health care professionals. Acts as collaborative physician with PA's and NPs as requested by authorized staff. At the request of authorized personnel, responds to emergencies in the facility. Physicians comply with information security policy and procedures and all documentation on coding. Documents medical advice to patients by telephone as appropriate and in accordance with the VASNHCS protocol. Performs necessary administrative duties which include operation of VISTA and the computerized electronic patient record (CPRS) and meets established timelines for completion of documentation and encounter completion. United States Citizenship:
Non-citizens may only be appointed when it is not possible to recruit qualified citizens in accordance with VA Policy. Degree of doctor of medicine or an equivalent degree resulting from a course of education in medicine or osteopathic medicine. The degree must have been obtained from one of the schools approved by the Department of Veterans Affairs for the year in which the course of study was completed. Current, full and unrestricted license to practice medicine or surgery in a State, Territory, or Commonwealth of the United States, or in the District of Columbia. Completion of residency training, or its equivalent, approved by the Secretary of Veterans Affairs in an accredited core specialty training program leading to eligibility for board certification. The physical requirements of this position include lifting, prolonged standing and sitting, frequent bending, walking (distance), climbing, reaching (overhead, extensive/repetitive), repetitive motion andstooping. The mental/sensory requirements include recall, reasoning, problem-solving, hearing, speaking clearly,writing legibly, keyboarding, reading and logical thinking. The environment's pace can vary from steady to a sometimesfast pace requiring handling of multiple priorities, frequent, sometimes intense customer interactions, and the ability toadapt to frequent changes in a sometimes noisy environment.

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
