TRANSPORTATION ASSISTANT (FREIGHT)

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-06 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following:
identifying the mode(s) of transportation, necessary special equipment and services required for shipments, securing carriers, and advising customers on transportation issues. Specific work experience must demonstrate the following duties:
1) Apply a knowledge of transportation management policies, regulations, methods, principles, practices, and procedures related to the movement of a wide range of special shipments (i.e. oversized, heavy, hazardous, classified, and/or security risk items); 2) Utilize knowledge of the carrier industry, specialized shipment needs, terminal or storage capabilities to identify appropriate shipping method, carrier equipment, services and special handling requirements; 3) Apply rules and regulations to determine the appropriate mode of transportation consistent with the requirements of movement of a wide range of government freight; and 4) Utilize knowledge of a wide range of transportation areas (i.e. personal property shipment management and regulations including household goods entitlements, personal property counseling, inbound and outbound shipment management, and non-temporary/temporary storage) to advise, counsel, and problem solve issues for customers. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
