TRANSPORTATION ASSISTANT (FREIGHT)
Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-06 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following:
identifying the mode(s) of transportation, necessary special equipment and services required for shipments, securing carriers, and advising customers on transportation issues. Specific work experience must demonstrate the following duties:
1) Apply a knowledge of transportation management policies, regulations, methods, principles, practices, and procedures related to the movement of a wide range of special shipments (i.e. oversized, heavy, hazardous, classified, and/or security risk items); 2) Utilize knowledge of the carrier industry, specialized shipment needs, terminal or storage capabilities to identify appropriate shipping method, carrier equipment, services and special handling requirements; 3) Apply rules and regulations to determine the appropriate mode of transportation consistent with the requirements of movement of a wide range of government freight; and 4) Utilize knowledge of a wide range of transportation areas (i.e. personal property shipment management and regulations including household goods entitlements, personal property counseling, inbound and outbound shipment management, and non-temporary/temporary storage) to advise, counsel, and problem solve issues for customers.
